TITLE IX

All educational institutions in the United States receiving federal funding are required to comply with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The Office of Equal Opportunity & Diversity is charged with ensuring the Academy is compliant with Title IX.  Complaints may be filed with either of the Title IX Coordinators listed below.

An informational pamphlet identifying the Title IX Coordinators and their contact information, complaint procedures and victim's resources is available in the link to the right. A hard copy may be obtained from the Office of Equal Opportunity & Diversity, Health Services, Athletics and Student Services.

The Complaint Form is available electronically on the right side of the screen.  Complaints may be filed in person with a Coordinator, hand delivered, emailed, or mailed.

The Academy's policy on sexual harassment, sexual discrimination, sexual assault and violence, stalking and domestic violence is contained in the state universities' Equal Opportunity, Diversity and Affirmative Action Plan; this Plan is currently being revised and is contingent on approval by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education.  The Plan includes a summary of the statewide Title IX Policy and Complaint Procedures.   The current, approved, Plan was adopted in 2007 and includes the statewide policy against sexual harassment and discrimination.

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights is the entity that is charged with enforcing Title IX compliance.  Inquiries about these issues may also be referred to the U. S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights (OCR), 8th Floor, Five Post Office Square, Boston MA 02109-3921, telephone (617) 289-0111, fax (617) 289-0150, TTY (877) 521.2172 or email: ocr.boston@ed.gov.
